Santa’s Sled Ride by IFSS-dA December 1st – January 5th Hosted by @ifss-da, judged by @brigetmiget Welcome to the first annual Santa’s Sled Ride, hosted by IFSS-dA! Join us in the Alaskan Wilderness for a fun-filled dog sled relay race, modeled after the 1925 Serum Run to Nome. The entire race is 261 miles in honor of Leonhard Seppala, whose team of 6 Siberian Huskies ran the longest leg in the race to Nome; however, individual dog teams will only be expected to run legs of roughly 25 miles. Hosted in the afternoon before the main event is a Santa’s Little Helpers Puppy Dash. This event is open to all aspiring sled-dogs-to-be of ages 6 – 18 months. Puppies will sport proper sledding gear and dash down a short lane to their awaiting handlers. This event is just for fun, so cute costumes are encouraged! Setting Starting in Nome, Alaska, the trail leads northeast along to coast before turning north towards Teller, east along the southern bank of the Imuruk Basin to Mary’s Igloo
